It is bad manners, space operas follow war customs from before and during WWI. There was a code of ethics everyone followed, a meeting in the battlefield before starting the fight (not killing a pilot that ejected himself).
We are just used to seeing guerilla warfare and an intelligence war nowadays, that deals on surprise attacks and being ruthless to the enemy basically every war from WWII to current times, that's why it sounds stupid to see the characters waiting.

I gotta say this show has figured out how to cap off its episodes with style and anticipation.

So it finally begins. Just two Death Stars exchanging blows. Considering the loss of life and damage Iserlohn Fortress is taking compared to Geiersburg, it seems that Iserlohn is a bit outgunned.

And since the Empire knows how Iserlohn works inside and out since it was originally theirs, the Empire has a massive advantage there too. Alex can probably hold off the Empire under his command and they also have talented officers on deck but it's definitely going to be a long and painful wait for Yang to get back.

The Alliance turned things around a bit there in the end though. Looks like they didn't expect the Rosen Ritter to be there on board to defend the Fortress from the inside. Look at these motherfuckin' badasses being led by Schonkopf The Empire is not gonna get past that corridor so easily with them defending it. I'm so excited to see the melee from these two forces next week.

Nah. This episode far exceed original especially on how they are building this battle. Original one is not this detailed.

I respect you opinion but i dont agree. DNT misses a lot what made LOGH. The political references of Yang are only a third of what he said in the original. They cut all the heavy political and emotional stuff and made it accessible for kids with this action and drama.

DNT is skipping over a lot of OVA and novels details and filling it with un necessary drama. Example In OVA Julian and Alex Cazellnu family's conversation only lasted about 3 second. But in here they showed how Julian run to them, How he was out of breath, explain the situation to his wife, Getting a stupid response from her and they also showed how Julian ran off saying bye bye to them lol. Wasted about 3 minutes on that useless conversation.

I would not write it off as "fan service" or unnecessary drama. It is possible that the focus is changed. Authors themselves might have endorsed this decision. When they could take a step back and look into their done work, now approached with a re-master, they might have considered THIS to be precisely a better way to frame their own work.

The exchange in the episode puts emphasis on family and children, if they made it 3 minutes instead of 3 seconds, it must mean they want THAT to be a part of the episode as well. I would say this makes perfect sense and is in line with the overall narrative so far, even if the original is clearly anti-war, then here we can also see more emphasis on, well, *WHY* be anti-war. It shift the paradigm and its messages, but in essence remains the same.

I believe it’s called ‘fan service’; apparently what sells these days are nyan neko lolis going “onee chan” and not the story.
